What happens during a boiler repair?
- Our engineer will send a text to let you know he’s on his way with a link where you can even track his journey.
- On arrival the engineer will ask you some questions about the boiler fault to establish a starting point to repair.
- If your boiler has a leak, we’ll aim to stop the leak and replace any faulty components straight away.
- If the boiler isn’t working, our engineer will aim to diagnose the fault by working out how far through the sequence of operation the oil boiler gets before the fault occurs.
- Our engineer would then test the faulty component to prove the boiler fault is what we suspect.
- Once your oil boiler fault is fully diagnosed, our team will discuss this with you and get the go ahead before we proceed with any repair work.
- If the boiler breakdown can be fixed whilst the engineer is on site then we will go ahead with the repair. If a part is needed and we don’t have it in our van stock then the repair will be quoted on site and our office team will give you a call to schedule your boiler repair.

What to do if I have an oil boiler breakdown?
Note down the make and model of your boiler. This can be found on the boiler nameplate or on a sticker on the boiler itself. Contact your boiler repair company. You can give us a call on 01484941003. Give them a brief description of the boiler fault and arrange a repair appointment.
Is an oil boiler breakdown an emergency?
Absolutely, if you’ve no heating or hot water you won’t want to wait around for an engineer. At MS Cookers and Boilers we always try to prioritise those with no heating or hot water in winter months. We’ll get your home warm and cosy again.
What is the biggest cause of an oil boiler breakdown?
There are many common oil boiler faults that cause an oil boiler to breakdown. Oil boiler faults such as a boiler lockout, intermittent running and fuel pump seizure are ones we see regularly. These are often caused by water in the fuel storage tank from condensation and/or water ingress – usually during times of extreme frost or snow. They can also be caused by bacterial growth/sludge build up within the tank. At MS Cookers and Boilers we also often see leaking joints, rusting components and system debris. These can all cause a range of oil boiler faults.
How much is an oil boiler repair?
The price of oil boiler repairs can vary depending on if parts are required, the parts needing replacement and the amount of time an engineer needs to repair the fault. At MS Cookers and Boilers we pride ourselves on fair pricing for top quality work. Whilst we don’t charge a call out fee, our first hour includes the fix if it can be repaired whilst on site. If parts or a return visit are required this will be discussed with you at the time of the first visit.
Can I fix my oil boiler myself?
Whilst you can perform some basic checks such as a visual inspection for leaks or corrosion it is highly recommended that an Oftec registered engineer completes any repair or service work. Oftec-registered engineers are trained to handle oil boilers safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs. If you’re worried about your boiler why not give us a call and see how we can help.
